In this article the culture of Sri Lanka is being brought to people's attention. This article explains how there are two main cultures which are celebrated in Sri Lanka, the Sinhalese and Tamil. Then it goes into some of the main things of which make Sri Lanka culturally intriguing. First it talks about the food and how Sri Lanka is one of the largest tea producers in the world and that tea is a big part of their food culture as well as spices. Then, it informs you about the festivals. Many festivals take place every year in Sri Lanka, the most popular is the Sinhala and Tamil New Year's festival every April. It's full of activities, traditional games, and even traditional dress. Lastly, it talks about how Sri Lanka is home to eight UNESCO world heritage sites that are a great way to learn more about their culture and experience it first hand.
My thoughts:
While I was reading this article I had many opinions, thoughts, and comments which I thought about. I think this article is a great tool to get a little information about Sri Lanka and a taste of what their culture is like. This article has a good variety of subjects that it talked about regarding culture and I think it's great that Sri Lanka is keeping their traditions alive with a New Year's festival every year that incorporates their traditional culture.

Not only does it identify the main cultures that are celebrated in the country, but it also goes on to give a brief description and explanation of their food culture, festivals and how traditional culture is a major part in that, and even cultural sites for people to go see and learn about to keep their culture alive and known.
