To begin, in this article it first informs you the ethnic groups, languages, and religions of which Nicaragua consists of. It goes on to explain how Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. It informs you that houses are usually small and without proper sanitation due to their situation. This leads to how the people of Nicaragua rely on agriculture and how it is the staple of their economy. As you read it talks about how the hardships they face does not keep them from having an amazing culture. The most celebrated event in Nicaragua is the annual commemoration of Nicaragua's independence it is filled with food, music, and dancing. Lastly, it informs you about how Nicaragua's culture includes a high value in family, strong literature contributions, and how they are rich in musical and religious traditions.
My thoughts:
As I read this article I began to understand Nicaragua's culture and what the people were like. I think this article is a great tool to understand how they celebrate their culture and how despite of not being as wealthy as other countries, they still have spirit. I think it shows a lot when even though you may not have it the best you can still celebrate your culture and make the best of everything. In this case, using agriculture to create amazing food culture. I really appreciate this article for bringing attention to their culture and how they continue to celebrate it.
Relation to Nicaragua's culture:
This whole article consists of how Nicaragua continues to celebrate their culture even though they are one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. It brings attention to what the people are like and how they rely on agriculture to keep their culture alive. I think this shows how devoted the people are to their country and how much they respect and love their culture.
